Sure, as a woman I want a woman president – you want someone from your own team to win, right? But being a woman has absolutely nothing to do with the qualifications necessary to be a good President. So I think we should stop talking about that.
The choice I will make in November boils down to character – not experience, not policies, not sex – I want to pick the person most capable of high quality leadership. Let’s face it, the President doesn’t change the stock market any more than the CEO of Apple invents the next iPhone. Each of these leaders is effective only when they inspire, build trust, make sound decisions, pursue excellence and demonstrate competence.
The need for character in our highest office has never been higher, and yet we have two very flawed individuals from which to pick. How does a cold, lying leader seem any better a choice than an obnoxious, insensitive one? Neither one seems to possess the character to unite our representatives across the aisle and move the country forward in a positive way.
I don’t know what I will decide. It’s as if I and so many others are waiting for some other viable option to appear. It’s fairly likely none will, so how should we make the choice? It’s not going to be picking the person with the best character as much as it will be selecting the person with the least bad character. Sigh. It’s still neck and neck.
