List-making that is. The to-do list specifically. At the start of my vacation I made a list of things I wanted to do during my staycation. I haven’t consulted it since then, and that was six days ago. I just found it and I was only able to cross out a few things. I don’t feel especially bad about that because I’ve been having a wonderful time and most things on the list had no real urgency. In my world, lists are more like “guidelines”… good intentions. I seem to get the important stuff done, so why bother with a list then? Well, trying to remember stuff takes energy. Once I write something down on a list it’s off my mind, but preserved for the occasional consult.
And you can’t get too worked up about getting Everything done…my theory of life is that lists are grand because they keep you living. Once you run out of things to do, you die. I will never have every plant where it belongs in the yard or every small household maintenance issue taken care of, thus ensuring a very long life.
