This past weekend three cool things happened. A pileated woodpecker came to visit. I saw a shooting star while sitting out in the hot tub. And on another night in the hot tub I heard my seldom-visiting barred owl repeating his song: "Who cooks for you?" Pileated woodpeckers are huge -- 16-20" as adults, about the size of a crow. I've seen one a few times before in my yard, but they are uncommon. But I know they are around because they are making their distinctive holes in my older, dead trees. As for the shooting star -- very unusual to see one in January and it had quite a long fall & burn. I wish on them every time.
These are all small things, but they each delighted me. There is an expression, "Don't sweat the small stuff." My version would be, "Appreciate the small stuff." Name one seemingly small thing that delighted you recently.
