I recently discovered an inspirational TED talk, Try Something New for 30 Days. It was recorded in 2011 (only took me six years to discover it, making me viewer 8,200,399). The guy doing the talk told how he challenged himself to do something new for 30 days, reasoning that people can generally do most anything if they know it’s only for 30 days. The idea captured me, and I’ve decided to try it out. For the rest of the year, I will take on a small challenge every month. I’ve decided my February challenge will be push-ups. I really hate them and I can give you a bunch of reasons why this is a terrible idea. And that’s why I picked it. I’m going to begin with a goal of 10 knee pushups every day.
Other challenges I have in mind will be less physically painful. For example, one month I think I will draw a face every day. That’s always been something I want to do better. And I might try being a vegetarian for a month. Then maybe 30 days of French lessons. Who wants to join me a 30-day challenge? What will you do? I’ll let you know how the pushups went at the end of February.
